![]() The best thing to do to help everyone in the family avoid these sugary treats and the cavities that follow is to replace them with snacks that are much better for your oral health. Here are some snack options that your family and their teeth will love. Healthy Fruits and VegetablesNaturally, fruits and vegetables are some of the healthiest snacks you can have on hand. You do want to be careful with some of the more acidic fruits such as oranges, though, since the acids can damage your teeth if you eat them too often. Fortunately, most fruits and vegetables aren't that acidic. You can have bags of cut carrots, celery, grapes, raisins, and other tasty snacks available in the refrigerator for your family to grab whenever they're hungry. Low-Salt PretzelsPretzels are perfect snacks for kids who aren't fans of vegetables. However, you do want to make certain that you're feeding the family low-salt pretzels. Otherwise, they're not quite as healthy as you might like, although they won't greatly damage your teeth. Sunflower SeedsAnother good family snack option is a bag of sunflower seeds. As another nice benefit, you can also find good-sized bags of sunflower seeds for fairly cheap, so they won't add that much to your budget. No-Sugar-Added SnacksEating healthy is great, but every now and then, you may want to treat yourself and your family. There are some candies and ice cream that are made without any additional sugars. These are the best options if you're going to treat yourself to a sugary snack. Definitely keep these snacks for special occasions—even though it says no sugar were added, they do contain some sugar. Always read the labels! Want to learn more about great snacks for your family's oral health? Give us a call today. |
