While veneers are a great option for a strong, durable smile, like natural teeth, they do sometimes crack. This can be a distressing experience for patients who aren't quite sure how to handle it. Here, we've provided you with some helpful information on how to respond if you crack a veneer. Steps to Take Don't panic! Keep calm, and pick up and pieces that have fallen from your mouth. If your veneer is still partially attached to the tooth, try to remove it without causing yourself any pain. Make sure to store the pieces, in a sturdy container to prevent further damage (a medicine bottle works great!). Prevention Is KeyPart of what makes veneers such a great complement to your smile, is that they behave much like your natural teeth! So, it's best to treat them like teeth, taking care not to bite too hard, or eat hard foods. Floss and brush twice a day, using a non-abrasive toothpaste. The best defense is a good offense; visiting us every 6 months for a checkup is the best way to make sure both your natural teeth, and your veneers, stay healthy. |
