Should Kids Have a Different Array of Food Options When Teething?

Should Kids Have a Different Array of Food Options When Teething?Toddlers are a great joy to their parents. Their laugh and giggles can place a smile on everyone's face. However, when they are teething, they can be a bit difficult to handle. During this time, a child is in pain and quite uncomfortable in their own skin. As such, they tend to be tired, moody, and may even refuse to eat their food. In such a situation, most parents will be very worried about their children.

Their concern is whether the baby is getting enough to keep them full and if they are getting the proper nutrition they need to continue growing stronger every day. During the teething, there are foods that children are encouraged to eat and those that are a big no for them. Either way, a child should have an array of options to keep things interesting and also provide them with everything they need nutritionally. Here are a few foods that are encouraged during this time.

Broccoli and Cauliflower with Cheese Sauce

The goal here is to create something the child will love the taste of, and still provide them with the nutrients they need. Veggies such as cauliflower and broccoli are quite nutritious. Adding cheese sauce on top also gives this mean an excellent taste. These ones should be steamed in an oven or on a stovetop to tenderize them. You can even add some carrots and peas for that extra boost.

Yogurt and Fruit

Here you can boil up some delicious fruits such as strawberries and raspberries to make them soft. After they cool down, you can add some cold yogurt to them to enhance the flavor. Since the yogurt is cold, its helps numb the raw gums and provide some relief for the child while packing in the nutrients the child needs.

Although acidic and salty foods are quite delicious to adults, they aren't so gentle to a teething child. Since the teething causes bleeding and tearing in the gums, it's a lot wiser to avoid citrus fruits, such as oranges, to avoid irritation. Tomato sauce can also be very acidic and should be left out of the menu. Always remember not to place any salt in foods while cooking for the toddler. For more options, give us a call. We have lots of tricks up our sleeves.
