What Dental Plaques Entail and How to Get Rid of ThemDental plaques are common in many individuals. This sticky residue forms on teeth after bacteria mixes with starchy and sugary foods. The only way to get rid of dental plaques is by combining both brushing and flossing. Tartar happens when plaque is left to settle on your teeth. During your regular dental checkup, this is when your teeth can be protected by removing plaque.

After eating or drinking, plaque bacteria produce acids. These are the acids that destroy the teeth' enamel and cause gingivitis and cavities. If plaque forms under tooth roots and gums, they destroy the bones supporting teeth.

How Popular are Plaques?

To some extent, every person suffers from dental plaque. Plaque can be felt by running the tongue over your teeth. Despite that plaque happens to everyone, some individuals develop them more than others. For instance, if you consume too much starchy or sugary foods often, then this could affect you. If you take antidepressant medicines which cause dry mouth, plaque can happen to your teeth more often.

Main Causes Of Plaque

If you feel a fuzzy feeling over your teeth when you run your tongue, then this is an indication of plaque. Red, tender, and swollen gums can signal that plaque is formed. Some people who suffer from severe bad breath, also known as halitosis, most likely have plaques. Bleeding after brushing is also common in teeth that have been affected by plaque.

How To Get Rid Of Plaque

Removing plaque is not as hard as it may look. If you thoroughly clean all your teeth surfaces, under your gum line, and between all teeth, bacteria feeding on food debris cannot survive. By brushing well, tartar will not form because it comes as a result of hardened plaque. Remember that flossing is another technique that assures that your teeth are spotlessly clean. Tartar can only be removed by a dentist, which is why you need to prevent it.
